Understand how payments work and when you get paid

Payment Methods

Gleam supports two payment providers:

Stripe (Cards)

  • • All major credit and debit cards
  • • Apple Pay & Google Pay
  • • SEPA Direct Debit (EU)
  • • iDEAL, Bancontact, and more

PayPal

  • • PayPal balance
  • • Connected bank accounts
  • • PayPal Credit

Customers choose their preferred method at checkout.

How Payouts Work

After a successful sale:

  1. Payment is processed by Stripe/PayPal
  2. Fees are deducted automatically
  3. Funds are added to your balance
  4. Payouts are sent to your bank

Payout Schedule

  • Stripe: Daily automatic payouts (2-7 business days)
  • PayPal: Instant to PayPal balance, then withdraw to bank

First payouts may take longer due to verification.

Fees Breakdown

Each sale has three fee components:

1. Platform Fee (Gleam)

  • • Free plan: 9%
  • • Starter: 5%
  • • Pro: 2%
  • • Business: 0%

2. Payment Processing

  • • Stripe: ~2.9% + €0.25
  • • PayPal: ~3.49% + €0.35

3. VAT (if applicable)

  • • Collected from customer
  • • Not deducted from your earnings

Example: €50 sale on Pro plan

→ Platform fee: €1.00 (2%)

→ Stripe fee: €1.70

→ You receive: €47.30

Refunds

EU Law (14-day withdrawal)

  • • Customers can request refunds within 14 days
  • • Digital goods exception applies after download starts
  • • Honor requests for goodwill

How to Refund

  1. Go to Dashboard → Sales
  2. Find the transaction
  3. Click "Refund" (or do it in Stripe/PayPal dashboard)

What Happens

  • • Customer is refunded in full
  • • Platform fee is returned to you
  • • Payment processing fee is NOT refunded
  • • Download access is revoked

Multi-Currency

Current

  • • Prices set in EUR
  • • Customers pay in EUR
  • • Payouts in your local currency (converted by Stripe)

Coming Soon

  • • Set prices in USD, GBP, and more
  • • Show prices in customer's currency
  • • Automatic conversion

VAT is always calculated based on customer location, regardless of currency.
